Battle of the Brow Gel: Anastasia Beverly Hills vs. Benefit

For Battle of the Brow Gel, I will be comparing Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel vs. Benefit Ready, Set, Brow! 24 Hour Brow Gel. I have both of these and have worn them for a while. They are very comparable yet different products.

Benefit Ready, Set, Brow! 24 Hour Brow Gel was one of the first products that I tried from the Benefit Brand. This product retails on the Sephora website for about $30 CAD.

Upon wearing this for a couple months I can say that the claim of “24-hour brow gel” is a bit exaggerated. For myself, I have thicker brows and need a sticky formula to keep my hairs from budging.

The applicator is a spatula with flimsy “hairs” and requires a bit of work to coat your brows. I found with this applicator, it is easy to be wasteful with the product when trying to distribute gel, but this is just a design flaw.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel retails on the Sephora website for $29 CAD. The Anastasia Beverly Hills formula is more “cementing” compared to the Benefit formula.

The applicator is a traditional spoolie and can easily coat your brows for long lasting wear.

The only flaw I found with this product is a little goes a long way and too much can make your brow look like plastic under certain lighting. However, we’ll rule that out as user error as I’m a pretty heavy-handed individual.

So who is the winner in Battle of the Brow Gel? Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel.

There is a reason why this product has a huge cult following and is a Holy Grail item on most makeup addicts make-up lists.

For me, the Benefit Grow Gel doesn’t stand up the 24-hour claim (barely even a full 8-10 hour work day). If you touch your brows accidentally, your brows will move out of place. Whereas, I found the Anastasia Beverley Hills Gel will keep your brows in place and may last in place for at least 12 hours.

The second reason why I didn’t pick the Benefit Brow Gel was because of the spatula applicator. It’s just awkward to apply to the brows, unlike the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gels that only takes a simple swipe.

The Benefit Brow Gel would be great for someone going out for a couple hours that wants something that will come off easily.

I started using brow products when I had chemo a couple of years ago, they are still very sparse. I don’t think benefit lives up to the hype either. I have yet to try the Anastacia brow gel but your review is tempting me to get some!

For sparse, skimpy brows (which I have too) at a budget price, I recommend Maybelline’s Brow Precise “fiber volumizer”. It has little fibers that help fill in my eyebrows and I believe they have several colour options as well. I use the blond shade, which is more like a taupe.

Congrats, it sounds as though chemo is in the rear view mirror!!

Always looking for good recommendations on makeup, and now that I’m gettng a bit older, my brows are thinning and graying a bit and I need something to fill in the gaps, so to speak!
